iLevel™ Services and New Products from Puhos 23.04.06
The recent announcement of Puhoswood Limited as the sole supply partner for Trus Joist® engineered wood products for England, Scotland and Wales is reflected on the iLevel™ Trus Joist® stand No B48 Hall 6 at Interbuild 2006 at the NEC, Birmingham.
Through its iLevel™ Services operation, Puhos now provides the nationwide network of iLevel™ supply partners and timber frame manufacturers with speedy access to the market leading Trus Joist® product range. This is complemented by the 'best in class' complete floor systems which combine Trus Joist® engineered joists with Puhos flooring panels, including the pioneering Weather Dek2® product now used in over 40 per cent of new build homes. iLevel™ Services - Puhos is based at Rochester, Kent where comprehensive port, warehouse, processing and transport facilities are located.

Interbuild debut for new Dek Shield™ flooring
Puhos Dek Shield is a new, innovative protected flooring solution for housebuilders designed for both interior and exterior applications, or as a component in a new generation of ground floor and apartment floor systems. Dek Shield combines a permanent, fully waterproof surface and 'best in class' slip resistance with the highest quality raw material substrate. A superb finish is assured with easy surface cleaning of site spoil on project completion. Used internally, as part of a floating or joisted floor, Dek Shield prevents moisture ingress from wet trades and supersedes the highly successful Puhos Protectafloor product.
Externally, Dek Shield flooring can be left safely exposed for up to 42 days, using a P5 substrate, or longer if a higher specification P7 baseboard is selected. For use in dry conditions, boards are supplied with special green PVA D4 adhesive to seal the edges. Where adverse weather is likely during construction, the additional precaution of Weather Dek edge tape is recommended. For ultra high durability and performance Dek Shield Sprucefloor plywood flooring is also available.
Benefits of the Dek Shield solution include: maximum site safety through unrivalled slip resistance; a fully waterproof surface, achieved using an exclusive PU sealer; and an ideal base with excellent key for overlaying any further decorative floor finish.
Free Span - advance information
Also under development by Puhos is the revolutionary Free Span floor deck. This will minimise - and potentially even eliminate - the need for noggins to provide under floor support.
Free Span will consist of a high density, super strong baseboard, manufactured using a high resin content to provide increased strength and durability. The result will be a 15 per cent improvement in deflection over traditional material.
Puhos expects Free Span to be available in a range of specifications to suit different applications. In each case Free Span will speed the building process saving time and cost while upgrading performance. Deflection of the deck will be reduced as will swelling and board movement in external applications. Part E acoustic performance will be improved and overall savings will be made in floor design costs.
Free Span will be available as part of a Weather Dek2 film protected floor system or with the revolutionary new Dek Shield coating for both internal and external flooring applications.
Weather Dek2® maintains market leadership
The latest version of the original weather protected floor system, Puhos Weather Dek2, continues to set the standard for platform flooring prior to roof construction and can be seen at the show.
By allowing other trades to work safely beneath, even in bad weather, Weather Dek2 saves both time and cost - up to three working days per unit according some leading housebuilders.
The Puhos system consists of a high quality P5 baseboard with a specially developed heavy duty film bonded to the surface. This provides full temporary weather protection during construction and is then peeled off creating a pristine floor on completion.
Weather Dek2 is the only protected decking board on the market which features a surface sealer beneath the protective film. This avoids water penetration if the surface film is damaged. Partnered with engineered floor beams and a fully customised fixing kit, including adhesives and edge tape, Weather Dek2 is the market leader in purpose designed complete flooring systems for effective weather protection.
Squeak Free
The Fast-Fix version of Weather Dek2 uses a specially developed, high performance bonding adhesive, applied using an application gun, to bond the panels directly to engineered floor beams. This minimises nailing and virtually eliminates floor squeaks. Fast Fix can also improve acoustic performance well beyond Part E requirements.
Extended protection
By using high performance P7 baseboard Weather Dek2 can extend effective weather protection and is ideal for social housing projects, apartments and terraced developments where exposure takes place for longer periods.
Endura Dek heavy duty flooring
Manufactured from a high percentage of chestnut wood, Puhos Endura Dek flooring panels are one of the strongest particle boards available. Endura Dek is ideal for commercial and industrial applications such as suspended flooring. An Endura Flam version combines the high strength substrate with a glass scrim reinforced aluminium foil, bonded to the panel underside improving fire classification to Class 'O'. Endura Grip meanwhile, blends an attractive finish with structural strength and a slip resistant surface for commercial locations where a good grip is essential for maximum safety.
