Puhos structural formed to handle trus joist 23.10.03 The announcement of Puhoswood Limited as a second national wholesaler for Trus Joist has resulted in the formation of Puhos Structural, a new division created specifically to manage this major new undertaking. Puhos Structural will operate from a covered warehouse near the companys existing facility at Rochester in Kent, where much of its shipping, production and logistics for Puhos and Weather Dek flooring is based. The stock management and inland logistics will be handled by Transit Medway Ltd which has a long-term partnership agreement to handle Puhos products. Andy Moore, managing director of Puhoswood believes the opportunity to be part of the rapidly expanding engineered timber market in the UK gives Puhos tremendous forward momentum, enabling the company to build on its excellent reputation for innovation and service. Engineered solutions have proved to be the vehicle for innovations that save housebuilders time and improve quality, he explains. In a little over three years, Weather Dek2 is already used on over 35 per cent of all new build developments. The annual turnover of Puhos in the UK has increased by 60% over the same period to around £22M. The complementary nature of Trus Joist engineered beams and Puhos Weather Dek2 panels has led to a synergy between the two companies in marketing, product development, testing, training schemes with CITB, and site installation. Trus Joists need for a second source of supply in itself points to the increasing demand for flooring system solutions. This, coupled with the known shortage of new houses predicted for many years to come, adds to the need for increased wholesale capacity. The belief by both Trus Joist and Puhos that integrated product solutions offer major commercial and technical advantages are key factors driving the expanding relationship between the two companies. Puhos Board (UK) Limited is based at Harpenden, Hertfordshire where its head office deals with sales, and the supply of its core panel products primarily from Finland and France. Its range of products is supplied from distribution centres at Rochester, Hull, and Grangemouth. Further information from: |
