New total floor system for housebuilders conforms with part e 24.03.04 A new acoustic flooring system that complies fully with stringent acoustic properties in new Building Regulations, Part E 2003, is being launched by Puhos Board (UK) Limited and Trus Joist which recently announced the appointment of Puhos as its second national wholesaler. The new acoustic floor, the first in a series of total flooring solutions resulting from the Puhos / Trus Joist relationship, combines Weather Dek2 high performance 22mm floor panels with Trus Joist TJI® joists. The total floor system achieves an acoustic performance of 41dB, third party certified by BRE (Building Research Establishment), and elimination of squeaking floors, all at minimal extra cost. Aimed at volume housebuilders and housing associations, the new total floor system uses a specially developed, high performance fast- fix bonding adhesive, applied using an application gun, to secure the Weather Dek2 panels to Trus Joist engineered beams. The resilient nature of this adhesive forms a shock absorber between panels and joists as well as minimising the need for nailing. The adhesive is part of a fully customised fixing accessory kit supplied with each floor and beam house set package. A specially developed surface film is combined with a unique formula, sealant adhesive between the baseboard and film. This provides extra protection, even against accidental film damage. Andy Moore, managing director of Puhoswood Limited says: “Effective sound insulation is now a high priority and Part E conformity a key ingredient in flooring specifications.” Certified to conform to Part E “The new system is not only certified to conform with new Part E regulations,” adds Moore, “it does so without the need for any special ceiling finish or insulation in the floor void.” This new addition to the market leading Weather Dek series from Puhos provides all the temporary weather protection benefits which have seen the system adopted in over 35 per cent of new housing developments and users claim savings of up to three working days per unit.
