Puhos powered by eco friendly fuel   27.01.05

Puhoswood Limited announces a further commitment to its strong environmental credentials with certificated confirmation that electricity supply to the Puhos woodchipboard manufacturing plant in Eastern Finland is from Fortum Markets Oy using Nordic hydroelectricity. The certificate covers the year 2005 and will be renewable annually.

Alex Campbell, a director of Puhoswood says:
“We see environmental issues as part of overall product quality. So the use of hydroelectric power enhances the quality of our manufacturing process.”

“Puhos was first in the Scandinavian particle board industry to be awarded the ISO14001 Environmental Management System Certificate,” explains Campbell. “It has invested continuously in ensuring low environmental impact from mill emissions.”

“This complements Puhoswood's recent success in being awarded BM TRADA chain of custody certification for PEFC and FSC TRADA-Trak, registration numbers BMT-PEFC-0130 and TT-COC-1993 respectively.”
